Premove takes time

If I premove it takes about 0.2 seconds. My ping is ok, it's about 50ms. I am not sure is it ok? I am used to chesscube where premove takes no time.
Default on FICS is 0.1 s for a premove but they solved it with a variable for those that like 0.0 s for a premove.

"Minmovetime. If all players have this set to 0 then there is no minimum move time."

Could be something for Lichess maybe?
I am losing a lot of games with this policy. I just can't adapt :)
Agreed, premoves should have no delay, like they were in the past on here. It's very frustrating not to have the pieces moving instantaneously. Is there some technical reason for this? Can't imagine why anyone would want lag.
Premoves still don't take any time. The issue is probably with the animation speed you have selected.

I just tested in some casual games against myself, and with no animation selected, a 40 move game that is completely premoved left me with 9:59 on the clock in a 10 minute game. With animation set to slow, after 8 moves I was already down to 9:57.

If you're playing such fast time controls that the difference between a fractional second and no time is that important, having piece animation is a bad idea anyway :)
Eh, that was a typo. It was a 30 move game, but still, the point is the same :)
Thanks, that was the problem. Turned it completely off in preferences and now the moves feel instant again.
Kinda stupid. Piece animation shouldn't have anything with timer.
Well, it's not entirely without justification. If animation time didn't count towards your clock, you could get a decent little advantage by turning your animation speed to the slowest possible, so that you have some extra time to react to the move, since you'll see it as it's completing, but your time wouldn't be running yet.

As with so many things in life, there are downsides to pretty much everything :)
