My personal motto is to always play the best that you can. If you lose, you learn. If you play for tricks, in the hope that the other falls in your trap by failing to find the best reply, you learn little. You might win (unlikely if you play against a top ranker) but what do you learn if you win? Winning is overrated. Growing and evolving. .that's something else :-)
