Variants Rating system

I play predominantly horde but I can see an issue with the rating systems in other variants as well. Some players only play 1/2 m or less and especially in horde it's not reflective to the skills of the player as most likely it will mouse moving contest.
I'd suggest that there should different ratings for different time controls in variants or increase the volatility of the ratings, otherwise they will be dominated by fast clicking players.
totally agree with you.

0.5 min and corresponding chess should not be part of a variant rating.

0.5 is just too fast for most players. not the best player in variant wins but the fastest. Props if you are fast but there is ultrabullet for you already.

correspondente chess does not have cheat control. so again no rating.

maybe make these time controls only possible with causal play.
check out the best horde player. ingred......

(s)he never won by variant end. Only won with time.
Yes, but if you forbid 1/2+0 to be rated, as it is already done for 1/4+0, they will play 3/4+0, if you forbid this, then 1+0 or 0+1 etc. It is hard to estimate where the actual game ends and the mouse-clicking contest starts.

For example, in my view, in Antichess the strategies of playing even bullet-like controls like 1+0 and relatively long 3+2 are very different, as in blitz you have some time to calculate how to give up all the pieces, having a large material advantage, and in bullet it's often better to just give away a lot and the opponent just won't find the narrow path to win in the position that is clearly objectively winning.

So it makes sense to split the rating pools in each variant, but that will cause a natural bloat in number of ratings of a single player, and it's not clear what to do with it. Perhaps, there is some clever rating system that gives one rating for the variant, but makes adjustments for different time controls.
clearly as the no1 of horde only won on time it is currently a clicking contest. And props to him for being so good. Rasing the bar to 1.0 is a good step.

mixed rating settings is terrible because then the best ultra player could be a player who only plays horde f.i.
Yup, I'd use horde bullet, blitz and rapid or at least make a provisional rating for all players who play only very fast time controls (1 min or less).
I am doing the test and I am gaining many points playing with 30 seconds. for the moment I have won almost 200 points winning most of the games.
