I know that time becomes red and gives me an audio warning if it's low, altough im still loosing a lot of games because I'm thinking about the position and don't look at the time and suddenly I only have 30 seconds for the winning position .
Perhaps you could implement a "big eye-catching" Warning, something across the screen everybody can enable or disable.
For example in the settings-box right next to the game you could add Explicit time Warning at 5:00, 2:50, 1:00 and 0:30. And every user can enable one, two or all the time warnings he needs.
Not sure if this is a feature everybody needs and also I don't know how the eye-catching warning could look like.
