Do atheists really think atheism is a religion?

Some people tend to believe that. When ask which religion they are for, they reply atheism.
That is the "Tu quoque" fallacy, or the "you too" fallacy.
Theists are the ones saying atheims is a form of religion, hence throwing that fallacy to accuse us of the same.

We dont even gather, well, except when there is some event that spark our interest. Just as when super hero fans gather to watch a movie about, well, superheroes, or trekkie nerds (yes, im one of them) to a trekkie related event.

"I don't believe a God exists" means they're in a religion to you?

Dude. Is "im not hungry" a food you can eat for dinner? Just because you ask what I want to eat doesn't mean anything I reply with is a food item.
Uh-oh, looks like somebody schlepped their way through Critical Thinking...
No, a lack of belief in a deity is not a religion in any sense of the word. That is, unless you redefine the word religion to include literally any belief/nonbelief about anything at all. Those who say it is are almost always pushing an unsupported, unfalsifiable (hell, sometimes even already falsified) belief and want to shift the burden of proof when asked for non-circular evidence, of which they have none. It's also a form of projection, as mentioned in #7.
