Chess is not just about money and 19 years are more than enough. It IS time for a change. What a pitty Kasparov didn't make it. Like Magnus Carlsen said : "It is not necessarily good for chess. I guess they have used all tricks possible to win the election. We who play will just have to make the best out of"
Surely, Ilyumzhinov's proposition of $20M intended for bureaucrats from chess is much wiser. That is twice wiser, to be exact.
Well, this was Kirsan's immediate reaction to Kasparov's proposal - pure knockout or let say checkmate :) Just different financial classes.
In fact, probably most of the voters agree that it is time for change. But Kasparov is not the right person. Under Kirsan FIDE is more or less "Gens una sumus". Kasparov will bring conflict with Russia.
