Top 100 with h4 and h5 only?!

Do you think it's possible to get into the top 100 (Around 2400), by playing 1.h4 as white or 1..h5 as black only? I think I can.

Wish me luck! :D
There's nothing horribly wrong with those moves, and if you're a strong player, it doesn't matter a tad.
Opening choices don't matter in blitz. h4 especially is not that bad, there are some clear ideas behind that move.
Strictly spoken 1.h1 (and 1.a4) are weak moves. No super gm in chess history ever played them.

I would suggest 1.h4 d5= and play with black as if you was white, playing 1.d4.
Well, opening choices matter much less in blitz, but they certainly still matter.

The black version (1...h5) of this idea especially just makes one's task harder than it has to be.

If anyone thinks their results over a large number of blitz games as black will be the same with 1...h5 as with a regular opening, they're either joking, mistaken, or playing with weak players.

I agree it's not as though it loses by force (although I wouldn't be terribly shocked if an omniscient being said it did), but it makes the position harder to play than it has to be.

To each his own. Some people love playing such offbeat stuff, whatever its objective merit, and more power to them :)

I might agree with you on 1. h1 being a weak move that no 'super' GM in history has ever played (even if it were a legal move, it'd be quite the war of attrition to knock out your own rook), but I must disagree with your claim and present a certain Norwegian's game in which he did indeed play 1. a4 and went on to win, at that.

Granted, it was a blitz game, but isn't blitz what the OP is going for, anyway?
#8 hahaha, i cant believe it, MC is so awesome ... OK, that was not in my database. So i guess from now on h4 and a4 can be considered good moves...
Closing in on my goal guys. I'm currently ranked 400. Let's keep this streak going!
