Fight thousands games or new account

I can't say anything comparable to what Onyx_Chess said, but it will take hundreds or even thousands of games to get where you want. Just remember that along the way, even if it doesn't seem like you are improving, you are gradually accumulating knowledge and that it will eventually equate to greater skill (and a higher rating). :)
@dboing

Good call on everything, dboing. I actually turned down an official position teaching chess in schools about 15 years ago. Not sure if I missed a train there, but my feeling was that it would make chess unbearable. (Doctors and nurses probably don't go home after work and watch hospital dramas...or maybe they do...but it wasn't a chance that I was willing to risk.)

I've taken on some students pro bono since, and when you look at their plateaued ratings, and crosscheck their improvement with the timestamps in my Discord channel, there is no denying 'who's who' and 'what's what'. :)

I did it for that smile, just to see if I could.
