Puzzle Storm: Reactions, general opinions :)

I noticed that puzzle storm, lichess' version of puzzle rush had been released and I was intrigued. I'm a big lichess fan and use it almost exclusively, but when I tried out puzzle storm, I found the interface to be not aesthetically pleasing and when I tried to go back over puzzles I had missed, it wouldn't let me analyze them and I got about -100 puzzle rating because of it. I don't care too much about my rating, but losing rating for no reason is quite annoying. Ever since lichess made significant changes to puzzles, I have felt that the aesthetic/look of the site was changed slightly for the worse. I don't know exactly what it is, but perhaps it's that features of the interface are disproportionally sized to how much you look at them or use them. Of course, I am super happy with how lichess has been rolling out new features and the advent of progress and new focus to implementing more features on the site.

All of that said, I am very curious to see whether or not some people share my initial opinions on lichess' new features and if there are parts of the new features that I do not know about yet! Thanks to everyone who decides to share their opinions, it's great to discuss such things with people who enjoy lichess as much as I do.

Also, lichess.... please bring back the puzzle rating graphs they were awesome :)
" it wouldn't let me analyze them and I got about -100 puzzle rating because of it"

you cannot analyze a puzzle until you solve it, if you press "see solution" before solving it you lose ratings

"new features and if there are parts of the new features that I do not know about yet!"

we cannot exactly know which new features you dont know yet, only you can know, lol.

In regards to seeing the solutions of the puzzles after doing them, I was talking about not being able to see the solutions of the puzzles after having tried to solve them unsuccessfully during a puzzle storm session. In chesscom's puzzle rush you are able to see what you did wrong after you finish your puzzle rush session. That being said, you are absolutely right.

In regards to the features I don't know about, I only know about what I metioned :)
Honestly, while some things can be improved, I really enjoy being able to do unlimited amounts of timed puzzles without having to pay for them. While there could be more features, it's good enough for me at the moment. One thing that I'd like to see is an indicator of which color I am. For opening/middlegame puzzles it's easy enough to figure out, but in endgames the pieces can get scrambled and you have to waste valuable seconds figuring out which color you are.
@PeterCavs Lichess setup is different from chessdotcom, here if you solve unsuccessfully you are supposed to solve it again to see the solution, i think this is the better way IMO
@casi5
You can see which color you are on regular puzzles on the middle/bottom right of the screen. For puzzle storm, I completely agree. There is no reason why the timer should take up half of the screen and an indicator of what color you are would be very helpful, especially because there are lower rated puzzles (which you will definitely get) where each side has pieces in the middle of the board and it's unclear which side of the board you are on.

Yeah no doubt it's the better thing to do, but having the option to retry vs analyze like you do in regular (not timed) puzzles would be a beneficial addition.
@PeterCavs in chessdotcom do you lose your normal rating when you fail to solve a puzzle rush?, i think your idea can be implemented if our normal ratings are affected while solving puzzle storm which would be hard IMO

When I complete a round of puzzle rush, I can click on the puzzles I got wrong and click the right arrow to see the correct move or try to think of the moves myself without looking at the notation. In puzzle storm, I can click on the puzzle I got wrong, but I can't see the correct answer. It simply brings me to the link of the puzzle as if I have not attempted it yet, while in puzzle rush, it recognizes that I've attempted the puzzle.

What I did was just blitz out moves to see if that was the correct answer, not realizing that it counted as a regular puzzle. To me, it seems like a double-whammy, where you can penalized for getting the puzzle wrong in puzzle storm, and then penalized again if you get it wrong when trying it separately. That's my only gripe. It's very nuanced, but I think that lichess does little things better than any other chess site, which is why I have the concern.
@PeterCavs maybe Lichess what they can do, they can separate lets say 50k puzzles only to be used for puzzle storm, and the rest of the puzzles to be used for normal puzzles, puzzle storm are always unrated, thats why you have to solve them before seeing the solution, this way it can work in the way you have suggested, but i see them not doing this cos they dont want people to memorize puzzles, i think this is how chessdotcom sets up
